Chennai: Advertising Club Madras has announced the appointment of leading industry professionals as jury chairs for additional categories of the 44th edition of the MADDYS Awards, its flagship annual awards celebrating excellence in advertising.The club revealed that Agnello Dias, Co-founder of Spinach Experience Design, will chair the Film & Audio Craft MADDYS jury. Preeti Vyas, Founder, Chairwoman and Chief Creative Officer of Vyas Giannetti Creative, will serve as jury chair for the Design & Print Craft MADDYS category. Mumbai: The Government of Andhra Pradesh is exploring the development of an AI-powered cultural tourism ecosystem in collaboration with Eros Innovation, aligning with the state’s broader vision to position itself as a global hub for advanced technologies.The initiative follows the technology-driven development vision outlined by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, to strengthen the state’s leadership in emerging sectors including artificial intelligence.As part of this effort, Kandula Durgesh, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography, Government of Andhra Pradesh, held a meeting with the leadership team from Eros Innovation to explore opportunities for collaboration in building the world’s first Cultural AI ecosystem for tourism.The Eros Innovation delegation included Vikram Tanna, CEO – Eros Universe & Eros Now; Piyush Bhatia, Group Chief Marketing Officer, Eros Innovation; and Dr. Shilpa Desai, CEO – Eros Wellness R&D.The meeting was also attended by A. Srinivas, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority, and Sathya Prabha, Head of Investments at the authority.During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities to build a Cultural AI ecosystem powered by Eros Innovation’s Large Cultural Models (LCM)—a new class of artificial intelligence designed to understand Indian culture, mythology, languages and storytelling traditions.The initiative aims to create immersive digital experiences around temples, heritage destinations and cultural narratives across Andhra Pradesh. By integrating tourism, storytelling and digital platforms, the project could significantly enhance visitor engagement and showcase the state’s cultural heritage to global audiences.The collaboration is also expected to open up opportunities for youth participation in the creator economy and the broader orange economy, enabling artists, storytellers, designers, filmmakers and digital creators to build globally distributed cultural experiences around Andhra Pradesh’s heritage.Officials noted that advanced cultural AI technologies could play a key role in positioning the state as a global leader in immersive heritage tourism, cultural technology and the creative economy.Both teams agreed to continue exploring initiatives that align with the state’s long-term vision of combining technology, culture and tourism to create new economic, cultural and innovation opportunities.

Government orders Telegram to disable over 3,100 piracy-linked channels within three hours
New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has directed messaging platform Telegram to remove or disable access to more than 3,100 channels accused of distributing pirated content, invoking provisions under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Copyright Act, 1957.In a notification issued on March 11, the ministry asked the platform to take down 3,142 channels within three hours of receiving the notice, while ensuring that the removal process does not “vitiate the evidence in any manner.” The directive was issued by MIB Joint Secretary C. Senthil Rajan and includes a detailed annexure listing the channels involved.According to the ministry, the identified Telegram channels were allegedly distributing unauthorised copies of films, web series, OTT titles and audiobooks owned or licensed by film studios, producers and digital platforms. The notice states that these channels made copyrighted content available without legal authorisation, thereby violating India’s copyright law.A senior official from the ministry said the action was triggered through a complaint-based mechanism, with multiple content owners, OTT platforms and civil society organisations flagging the circulation of pirated material on the platform.The government invoked Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act along with Rule 3(1)(d) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, which obligate intermediaries to remove unlawful content once notified by authorities. Non-compliance could result in the platform losing its safe harbour protection, which shields intermediaries from liability for user-generated content.Officials noted that the three-hour compliance window reflects recently tightened intermediary obligations under amendments to the IT Rules, 2021, which came into effect on February 20, 2026 and significantly reduced the time available for platforms to act on official takedown notices.The annexure attached to the notification reportedly runs into 120 pages, detailing channel URLs, names, and the number of piracy links associated with each channel. The channels were found to be distributing content from major streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, JioHotstar and ShemarooMe, along with audiobook content from KukuFM.The government’s move comes amid growing concern over digital piracy in India, which remains one of the largest sources of global piracy traffic. According to industry estimates cited in the MUSO Piracy Trends and Insights Report 2024, India accounted for 8.12% of global piracy traffic, with around 1,756 crore visits to pirated websites, second only to the United States.Authorities said the action forms part of a broader effort to strengthen enforcement against online piracy, particularly around films and OTT releases, as digital distribution continues to expand across the entertainment ecosystem.

Mumbai:The Central government is examining additional measures to strengthen online safety, particularly for children and women, while also addressing the growing issue of misleading advertisements on digital platforms, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.Responding to a question in Parliament, Vaishnaw said protecting users in the rapidly expanding digital ecosystem remains a key priority for the government. He highlighted that the increasing reach and influence of social media platforms have made it essential to adopt stronger safeguards to protect vulnerable users.The minister noted that risks in the digital environment can arise from multiple sources, including content generated through artificial intelligence as well as material posted by publishers and users across social media platforms. “The safety of children on all social media platforms, safety of women, and protection against misleading advertisements are very important issues. We have to take all the steps which are required for ensuring the safety of our children and the entire society on digital platforms, whether it is AI-generated material or material posted by publishers on social media platforms,” Vaishnaw said in the House.He also referred to the work undertaken by a parliamentary committee that has studied the evolving risks associated with digital platforms. According to Vaishnaw, the committee conducted a detailed examination of the issue to assess whether the current frameworks governing citizen safety online require further strengthening.The government’s review comes amid increasing scrutiny of online platforms globally, as policymakers grapple with the challenges posed by rapidly advancing technologies, AI-generated content, and the spread of deceptive advertising in the digital space.

A shiny digital concept. A line that will apparently “change the conversation”. Heads nod. Budgets get ring fenced. Awards are imagined.Meanwhile, in a corner of that same room, a lonely keynote page waits its turn: “Packaging routes”, “POS options”, “Music track TBD”. The real workhorses of the brand are treated like housekeeping - necessary, but not a priority.But brand building doesn’t only happen in the 30 seconds you paid for. It happens in all the tiny moments you barely notice - the ones you never put in the reel.That’s the great irony of modern marketing - we pour our energy into the things people skip, and neglect the things they live with.Those are the underrated assets in a brand’s journey. 1. Packaging - the brand you take home! If Advertising is the promise, Packaging is the proof.The pack sits in the consumer’s hand long after your ad has disappeared into the algorithm. It’s on the shelf, in the kitchen, in the fridge, on the bathroom counter…quietly repeating your story every single day.Think about the last time you bought something as simple as a packet of biscuits.You did not wake up that morning reciting the latest TV script. You stood in front of a shelf or scrolled through a feed and your hand or thumb moved almost automatically toward something familiar. A flash of colour. A shape.A word you trusted. A face you’d seen somewhere before.In India, Parle G is a masterclass in this quiet, persistent presence. For decades, in paan shops and kiranas, on trains and canteen counters, that beige yellow pack with the wide eyed child has held its ground. The brand has done different campaigns, but the pack has been the constant - a visual handshake repeated billions of times.The same is true of Amul butter. The little girl with polka dots has travelled from hoardings to cartoons to social media posts, but her most powerful stage is a cold shelf in a small shop. Sales wants the offer. Also, make the logo bigger.”We squeeze years of equity and months of strategy into a noisy postcard, then wonder why the consumer cannot hear us. 2. Sonic Branding - When a brand walks in before you do! If packaging is the face that stays, sound is the voice that lingers.We live in a visually exhausted world. Timelines, banners, reels, stories - the eye spends its day sprinting. The ear, on the other hand, still has space. Sound can slip in while you’re cooking, driving, working, waiting for a call to connect.Airtel understood this early. Long after individual campaigns faded, a few simple notes kept walking into rooms uninvited. At railway stations, in small towns, in metros, you would hear that tune and know, instantly, who was speaking. The brand had built something rare: an identity that travelled without needing a screen.Think of how powerful that is in a country of many languages. A visual line needs to be translated; a tune just needs to be heard.Yet, how do most marketers brief sound? At the end. “We’ll figure music closer to the edit.” As though it were wallpaper. As though it were an accessory.Sonic identity, when treated as an asset in the brand’s journey, behaves more like a logo than a background track. Everybody pins something on. Trade wants visibility. Sales wants a deal. Brand wants a tagline. They don’t get case study films set to swelling music. But they are the parts of the story the audience re-reads every day.The question for any marketer, especially in a market as noisy and nuanced as India, is not “What’s our next ad?” It is: “What will they live with?
