Digital Ad Spends Cross ₹71,000 Crore, Seen Touching ₹98,000 Crore by 2027: dentsu report

Mumbai: India’s advertising industry is undergoing a structural transformation, moving beyond a simple shift from traditional to digital media and entering a phase where commerce, content, data and technology are increasingly converged, according to the dentsu Digital Advertising Report 2026.The report estimates that India’s total advertising spends closed 2025 at ₹1.21 lakh crore, growing 8.3% year-on-year, and are projected to reach ₹1.40 lakh crore by 2027, translating into a CAGR of over 7%. While this growth appears steady on the surface, the underlying composition of spends reveals a far more consequential change: digital media has become the industry’s primary growth engine and strategic anchor. Digital Becomes the Default, Not the Alternative Digital advertising accounted for ₹71,621 crore in 2025, representing 59% of total advertising spends. By 2027, this share is expected to rise to around 70%, with digital ad spends projected to touch ₹98,034 crore. The report highlights that this is no longer a cyclical reallocation driven by temporary consumption shifts, but a long-term rebalancing of advertising priorities.Mobile-first consumption, short-form video, creator-led ecosystems, embedded payments, and AI-powered optimisation are cited as key drivers accelerating digital adoption across categories. Traditional media continues to play an important role, particularly television for live sports and high-impact entertainment, and print for trust-led communication in sectors such as government and education. However, their relative share is steadily declining as advertisers prioritise measurable, addressable and commerce-linked media environments. Retail Media Emerges as the Fastest-Growing Segment One of the most significant findings of the report is the rapid rise of retail media as a core advertising pillar. Advertising spends on e-retail platforms reached ₹17,601 crore in 2025, growing nearly 56% year-on-year and accounting for almost one-fourth of total digital ad spends.The report notes that retail platforms are evolving from pure transaction environments into full-funnel media ecosystems, combining discovery, storytelling, conversion and closed-loop measurement within a single system. Powered by first-party shopping and streaming data, retail media allows advertisers to link exposure directly to purchase outcomes, addressing one of advertising’s longstanding measurement challenges.This shift is also forcing organisational changes within brands, with trade marketing, ecommerce, media and CRM teams increasingly required to operate from a unified consumer view. Video, Social and Search Continue to Dominate Digital Mix Within digital advertising, social media and online video together account for nearly 60% of spends, underlining the growing importance of immersive and high-engagement formats. Social media leads with a 29% share, closely followed by online video at 28%. Paid search remains a critical channel for intent-driven marketing, contributing 23% of digital spends, though its growth is stabilising as advertisers diversify away from over-dependence on lower-funnel formats.The report projects that online video is likely to overtake social media as the single largest digital format over the next two years, driven by deeper OTT penetration, short-form video adoption and AI-led personalisation. Programmatic and AI Reshape Media Buying Programmatic buying continues to gain share, accounting for 42% of digital media spends in 2025, or over ₹30,000 crore. The report forecasts this to rise further as AI-led optimisation, first-party data usage and outcome-based buying models become standard practice.Rather than being viewed as a tactical efficiency tool, programmatic is increasingly positioned as the default operating layer of digital media, spanning video, connected TV, digital outdoor and retail media. Attention metrics and outcome-based measurement are also gaining prominence over traditional impression-led benchmarks. தமிழக காங்கிரஸ் கூட்டணி சர்க்கஸ் - 04 எப்போதும் இல்லாத அளவுக்கு ஆக்டிவாக இருக்கிறது சத்யமூர்த்தி பவன். திமுகவிடமிருந்து கடந்த முறையை விட அதிக சீட்டுகளை வாங்கிவிட வேண்டுமென ஒரு முடிவோடு இறங்கி ஆடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது காங்கிரஸ். ராகுலும் டெல்லியிலிருந்து அமைதியாக அத்தனையையும் வேடிக்கை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். தமிழகத்தை கட்டி ஆண்ட கட்சி, இப்போது கூடுதலாக ஒன்றிரண்டு சீட்டு கேட்டு தகராறு செய்யும் நிலைக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்திருப்பதில்தான் தமிழக அரசியலின் பெரும் சுவாரஸ்யமே அடங்கியிருக்கிறது. சத்தியமூர்த்தி பவன் திமுக - காங்கிரஸ் கூட்டணியே ஒரு ஆச்சர்ய முரண்தான். ஏனெனில், தமிழகத்தில் மாநில சுயாட்சி பேசி காங்கிரஸை வீழ்த்த தொடங்கப்பட்ட இயக்கம்தான் திமுக. தங்களின் லட்சியத்தை கட்சி தொடங்கிய 18 ஆண்டுகளிலேயே சாதித்தது திமுக. 1967 இல் காங்கிரஸை வீழ்த்தி ஆட்சிக்கட்டிலில் அமர்ந்தது. அகில இந்திய அளவிலேயே பெரும் தலைவராக பார்க்கப்பட்ட காமராஜரின் கதர் கூட்டத்தை அண்ணாவின் படை தோற்கடித்தது. சுதந்திரத்துக்கு பிறகு தொடர்ச்சியாக 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் ஆண்ட காங்கிரஸால் அதன்பிறகு தமிழகத்தில் ஆட்சியையே பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. அதைவிட பெரிய சோகம், தங்களை வீழ்த்தி வீட்டுக்கு அனுப்பிய திராவிட கட்சிகளுடனேயே மாறி மாறி கூட்டணி அமைக்கும் நிலைக்கு காங்கிரஸ் சுருங்கியது. 1967 க்குப் பிறகு காங்கிரஸூக்குள் பிளவு ஏற்பட்டது. இந்திரா காந்திக்கும் காமராஜர் போன்ற கட்சியின் சீனியர்களுக்கு இடையேயும் முட்டிக் கொண்டது. மன்னர் மானியம் ஒழிப்பு, வங்கிகள் தேசியமயமாக்கல் போன்ற இந்திராவின் அதிரடி நடவடிக்கைகளை காங்கிரஸின் சீனியர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை. அந்த சமயத்தில் வந்த குடியரசுத் தலைவர் தேர்தல் இரு தரப்புக்கும் இடையேயான மோதலை வீதிக்கு கொண்டு வந்தது. காமராஜர் தரப்பு நீலம் சஞ்சீவ ரெட்டியை வேட்பாளராக நிறுத்த இந்திரா வி.வி.கிரியை வேட்பாளராக்கினார். திமுக - காங்கிரஸ் கூட்டணிக்கான அச்சாரமும் இங்கேதான் போடப்பட்டது. காமராஜர் தன்னுடைய வேட்பாளருக்கு ஆதரவு கொடுக்குமாறு அப்போதைய முதல்வர் கருணாநிதியிடம் இந்திரா கேட்கிறார். மன்னர் மானிய ஒழிப்பு போன்ற புரட்சிகர திட்டங்களை காரணம் காட்டி இந்திரா தரப்பை ஆதரித்தார் கருணாநிதி. வி.வி.கிரி குடியரசுத் தலைவர் ஆனார். ஆத்திரமடைந்த காங்கிரஸின் சீனியர்கள் நிர்வாகக் குழு கூட்டத்தை கூட்டி இந்திராவை காங்கிரஸிலிருந்து நீக்கினர். காங்கிரஸ் இந்திரா காங்கிரஸ், ஸ்தாபன காங்கிரஸ் என இரண்டாக உடைந்தது. நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் இந்திராவின் அரசு மீது நம்பிக்கை வாக்கெடுப்பு. மீண்டும் கருணாநிதி கைகொடுத்தார். திமுக இந்திரா காங்கிரஸை ஆதரித்தது. இந்திராவின் ஆட்சி தப்பித்தது. ஆனால், சில வாரங்களிலேயே ஆட்சியை கலைத்துவிட்டு தேர்தலை எதிர்கொள்ளும் முடிவை எடுக்கிறார். தமிழகத்தில் கருணாநிதியும் தேர்தலை எதிர்கொள்ளும் முடிவுக்கு வந்தார். 1971 இல் தமிழகத்தில் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தலும் சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலும் ஒரு சேர நடக்கிறது. திமுக கூட்டணியில் இணைகிறது இந்திரா காங்கிரஸ். ஸ்தாபன காங்கிரஸ் தனி கூட்டணி. இதில் சுவாரஸ்யம் என்னவெனில் திமுக கூட்டணியில் இந்திரா காங்கிரஸுக்கு 9 நாடாளுமன்ற தொகுதிகள் மட்டுமே ஒதுக்கப்பட்டது. ஒரு எம்.எல்.ஏ சீட் கூட ஒதுக்கப்படவில்லை. இக்கட்டான சூழலில் தனக்கு உதவியதால் இந்திராவும் அதற்கு ஒப்புக்கொண்டார். தேர்தல் முடிவுகள் திமுக - இ.காங் கூட்டணிக்கு இன்ப அதிர்ச்சியாக அமைந்தது. திமுக மட்டும் 184 இடங்களில் வென்றது. இ.காங் போட்டியிட்ட 9 எம்.பி தொகுதிகளிலும் வென்றது. ஸ்தாபன காங்கிரஸூக்கு பெருத்த அடி. இந்திரா காந்தி, கருணாநிதி 1971 க்குப் பிறகு தேசிய அரசியலும் தமிழக அரசியலும் புயலை கிளப்பும் மாற்றங்கள் அரங்கேறின. திமுகவிலிருந்து பிரிந்து வந்து எம்.ஜி.ஆர் அதிமுகவை தொடங்குகிறார். 1975 இல் இந்திராவுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட நெருக்கடியால் எமெர்ஜென்சி அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. இங்கிருந்து திமுக - இ.காங் கூட்டணியின் நிலைப்பாடுகள் மாற தொடங்கின. கருணாநிதி எமெர்ஜென்சியை ஆதரிக்கவில்லை. திமுகவினர் சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டனர். இன்னொரு பக்கம் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் எமெர்ஜென்சிக்கு முழு ஆதரவு கொடுத்தார். விளைவு, கருணாநிதியின் ஆட்சி மீதான ஊழல் புகார்களை விசாரிக்க சர்க்காரியா கமிஷனை அமைத்தார் இந்திரா. திமுக ஆட்சியை டிஸ்மிஸ் செய்தார். 1977 இல் எமெர்ஜென்சியை விடுவித்து தேர்தலை அறிவிக்கிறார் இந்திரா. கருணாநிதி டெல்லி சென்று எதிர்க்கட்சிகளை ஒருங்கிணைத்து ஜனதா கட்சியின் கூட்டணிக்கு காரணமாக இருந்தார். திமுகவும் ஜனதா கட்சியும் கரம் கோர்த்தன. அதிமுகவும் இந்திரா காங்கிரஸூம் கரம் கோர்த்தன. தேசியளவில் முடிவுகள் வேறாக வந்தன. ஜனதா கட்சி ஆட்சியைப் பிடித்தது. மொரார்ஜி தேசாய் பிரதமர். தமிழகம் தலைகீழாக வாக்களித்தது. எம்.ஜி.ஆர், இந்திரா கூட்டணி பெரு வெற்றிப் பெற்றது. எம்.ஜி.ஆர் 1977 இல் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தல் முடிந்த சில மாதங்களில் தமிழகத்துக்கு சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தல். அந்தத் தேர்தலில் அதிமுக - இ.காங் கூட்டணி தொடரவில்லை. காரணம், ஜனதா கட்சியுடன் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் நெருக்கம் காட்ட தொடங்கினார். அதிமுகவிடம்தான் எம்.பிக்கள் இருந்தனர் என்பதால் மொரார்ஜி தேசாயுக்கும் எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் ஆதரவு தேவைப்பட்டது. ஜனதாவிடமிருந்து மெல்ல திமுக விலகியது. 1980 இல் மீண்டும் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தல். இடையில் தமிழகம் வருகையில் இந்திராவின் மீது திமுகவினர் கொலை வெறி தாக்குதலில் ஈடுபட்டதாக குற்றச்சாட்டு உண்டு. அதனால் காங்கிரஸூம் திமுகவும் மீண்டும் இணையவே மாட்டார்கள் என்ற அனுமானங்கள் உண்டாகியது. ஆனால், அரசியல் இருதரப்பையும் மீண்டும் இணைத்தது. ஜனதாவை வீழ்த்த மீண்டும் பிரதமராக கருணாநிதியுடன் கரம் கோர்க்க எண்ணினார் இந்திரா. எமெர்ஜென்சிக்காக மன்னிப்பு கேட்க வேண்டுமென்றது திமுக. மெரினாவில் நடந்த பிரசாரக் கூட்டத்தில் மன்னிப்பும் கேட்டார் இந்திரா. 'நேருவின் மகளே வருக...நிலையான ஆட்சி தருக!' என கருணாநிதியும் உருகினார். திமுகவுக்கு எதிர்நிலை எடுப்பதுதான் எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் அரசியல். அதிமுக ஜனதாவோடு கைகோர்த்தது. 1980 நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தல் முடிவுகள் எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்கு அதிர்ச்சியை கொடுத்தன. இரண்டே இரண்டு இடங்களில் மட்டுமே அதிமுக - ஜனதா கூட்டணி வென்றது. மற்ற எல்லா இடங்களும் திமுக கூட்டணிவசமானது. இந்திரா மீண்டும் பிரதமரானார். எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் ஆட்சி டிஸ்மிஸ் செய்யப்பட்டது. தமிழகத்துக்கு சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலும் வந்தது. இந்திரா காந்தி 1971 இல் சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலில் சீட்டே வேண்டாமென இந்திரா விட்டுக்கொடுத்தார். ஆனால், இந்த முறை அப்படியல்ல. இப்போது இந்திராவுக்கு சவலாளிக்க காமரஜாரும் இல்லை, ஸ்தாபன காங்கிரஸூம் இல்லை. அதனால் திமுகவிடம் அதிக தொகுதிகளை கேட்டுப் பெற்றார் இந்திரா. திமுகவும் காங்கிரஸூம் சரிசமமாக தலா 109 தொகுதிகளில் போட்டியிட்டனர். அதிக தொகுதிகளில் வெல்வோருக்கு முதல்வர் பதவி என திமுகவிடம் காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர்கள் முறுக்கினர். ஆனால், அதற்கெல்லாம் வேலையே இல்லாமல் போனது. 'நான் என்ன தவறு செய்தேன்? என்னுடைய ஆட்சியை அநியாயமாக டிஸ்மிஸ் செய்துவிட்டார்களே?' என்கிற எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் பிரசாரம் எடுபட்டது. அதிமுக தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை பெற்று ஆட்சியைப் பிடித்தது திமுக 37 தொகுதிகளிலும் அதிமுக 31 தொகுதிகளிலும் மட்டுமே வென்றிருந்தன. ஆட்சியமைத்த எம்.ஜி.ஆர் வழக்கம்போல மத்திய அரசுக்கு இணக்கமான போக்கை கடைபிடித்தார். விளைவு, காங்கிரஸூம் அதிமுகவும் மீண்டும் நெருங்கின. இந்திராவின் இறப்புக்குப் பிறகு ராஜிவ் காந்தியும் அதிமுகவோடு கூட்டணி வைத்தார். 1984 தேர்தலில் 400+ இடங்களை வென்று ராஜிவ் பிரதமராக, தமிழகத்தில் மீண்டும் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் முதல்வர். 73 தொகுதிகளில் போட்டியிட்ட காங்கிரஸ் 61 தொகுதிகளில் வென்றது. 1987 டிசம்பர் 24 இல் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் இறக்கிறார். அதிமுக ஜெயலலிதா அணி, ஜானகி அணி என பிரிகிறது. நம்பிக்கை வாக்கெடுப்பில் காங்கிரஸ் ஜானகி அணியை ஆதரிக்க வேண்டுமென நடிகர் சிவாஜி கணேசன் விரும்புகிறார். ராஜிவ் சிவாஜியின் விருப்பத்தை ஆமோதிக்கவில்லை. ஒன்றுபட்ட அதிமுகவுக்கு மட்டுமே ஆதரவு என்றார். ஜானகியின் ஆட்சி கலைந்து மீண்டும் சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தல். இந்த முறை கூட்டணி எதுவுமின்றி தனித்து போட்டியிட காங்கிரஸ் முடிவெடுத்தது. திமுக நீண்ட காலமாக ஆட்சியில் இல்லை, அதிமுக பலமிழந்து கிடக்கிறது. Rajiv Gandhi | ராஜீவ் காந்தி மீண்டும் காங்கிரஸ் ஆட்சியைப் பிடிக்க இதுதான் சரியான நேரமென ராஜிவ் நினைத்தார். மூப்பனார் முதல்வர் வேட்பாளராக முன்னிலைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு அவருக்காக 14 முறை தமிழகம் வந்து பிரசாரம் செய்தார் ராஜிவ். ஏமாற்றமே மிஞ்சியது. திமுக ஆட்சியைப் பிடித்தது. காங்கிரஸ் 19.8% வாக்குகளுடன் 26 இடங்களில் மட்டுமே வென்றது. திமுக ஆட்சி கலைக்கப்பட 1991 இல் மீண்டும் தேர்தல். இந்த முறை அதிமுக ஜெ.வின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருந்தது. ராஜிவ் காந்தி அதிமுகவுடன் கூட்டணிக்கு ஒப்புக்கொண்டார். தேர்தல் பிரசாரத்தின் போதுதான் அந்த அசம்பாவிதம் நடந்தது. ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரில் குண்டு வெடிப்பில் ராஜிவ் காந்தி உயிரிழந்தார். ராஜிவ்வின் இறப்புக்கு காரணமே திமுகதான், அவர்கள் விடுதலைப் புலிகளை ஆதரிக்கிறார்கள் என காங்கிரஸார் கொந்தளித்தனர். ராஜிவ் மீதான அனுதாபம் காங்கிரஸ் - அதிமுக கூட்டணிக்கு பெரு வெற்றியைக் கொடுத்தது. 65 இடங்களில் போட்டியிட்ட காங்கிரஸ் 60 இடங்களில் வென்றது. ஆனால், இந்தக் கூட்டணிதான் அடுத்த தேர்தலுக்குள் காங்கிரஸின் பிளவுக்கும் காரணமாக இருந்தது.
