Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) to collaborate on strengthening game development education, industry engagement, and ecosystem development in the country.The MoU establishes a structured framework for academic–industry cooperation within the video games and interactive entertainment sector. Through this partnership, IICT and GDAI will work towards closer knowledge exchange, industry-linked learning, and talent development initiatives, aimed at better aligning education with real-world game development requirements.The collaboration will explore opportunities for curriculum dialogue, structured industry engagement, and ecosystem-oriented initiatives that support the creation of production-ready talent for India’s rapidly growing gaming industry.Commenting on the collaboration, Shridhar Muppidi, Chairman, GDAI, said, “India’s gaming industry has scaled rapidly in terms of users and content consumption, but the availability of production-ready talent remains uneven across studios and roles. This partnership is intended to address that imbalance by aligning education pathways more closely with real-world development requirements and emerging technologies.” Dr Ashish Kulkarni, Founding Director, IICT, said, “For India to build sustainable leadership in the AVGC-XR sector, education must evolve in step with industry workflows and global standards. மலையாள நடிகர் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் உடல்நலக் குறைவால் கடந்த சனிக்கிழமை இயற்கை எய்தினார். 69 வயதானவர் கடந்த சில நாட்களாகவே உடல்நலக் குறைவு காரணமாக சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தார். கடந்த சனிக்கிழமை திடீரென இவருக்கு மூச்சுத் திணறல் ஏற்பட்டு மருத்துவமனைக்குக் கொண்டுச் செல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். அங்கு அவருடைய உயிர் பிரிந்தது. தேர்தல் பத்திரங்களில் பல்வேறு முறைகேடுகள் நடக்கின்றன என்று கடந்த ஆண்டு அந்தப் பத்திரங்களை ரத்து செய்தது உச்ச நீதிமன்றம். இதனால், பெரு நிறுவனங்கள் தற்போது அரசியல் கட்சிகளுக்குத் தேர்தல் அறக்கட்டளைகள் (Electoral Trust) மூலம் பணம் வழங்கி வருகின்றன. தேர்தல் அறக்கட்டளை என்பது நிறுவனங்கள் இணைந்து அரசியல் கட்சிகளுக்கு நிதி வழங்க தொடங்கும் அறக்கட்டளை ஆகும். Kaspersky flags surge in global scam activity linked to Avatar 3 release
Mumbai: As Avatar 3 premieres across multiple countries and online interest around the blockbuster intensifies, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has identified a rise in scam campaigns exploiting the film’s release and users’ eagerness to watch it online. According to the company’s experts, fraudulent websites linked to the movie have been detected across several regions, indicating coordinated attempts by cybercriminals to target a global audience.Kaspersky noted that attackers are creating suspicious websites claiming to offer online access to Avatar 3. These sites are often localised in multiple languages to attract users from different countries. However, poor translations, grammatical errors and inconsistencies frequently serve as warning signs of fraudulent activity.When users attempt to play the movie, they are redirected to a fake media player and prompted to register for “full” or “unlimited” access. During this process, users are asked to share personal details such as email addresses and mobile phone numbers. In later stages, scammers may also request payment information under the pretext of activating a “free trial,” increasing the risk of credential theft and potential financial losses—especially when passwords are reused across services.Commenting on the trend, Olga Altukhova, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky, said, “Cybercriminals consistently exploit major movie premieres to capture users’ attention and increase the effectiveness of their schemes. We advise accessing films only through official platforms and exercising caution when encountering websites that request personal or payment information. It is also important to use reliable security solutions to protect all devices, including mobiles.” To help users avoid falling victim to such scams, Kaspersky recommends verifying the authenticity of websites before entering personal information, carefully checking URLs and company name spellings, and relying only on official and reputable streaming platforms. The company also advises using robust security solutions capable of detecting phishing links and malicious attachments. Additionally, enabling multi-factor authentication on key accounts, including Apple ID and financial applications, and regularly monitoring account activity can further reduce risk.The findings underscore how high-profile entertainment launches continue to be leveraged by cybercriminals, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance during major global releases.

Mumbai: Hiring activity in India’s Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector is showing signs of recovery in the second half of the year, led by a strong pivot towards digital-first roles, according to the latest TeamLease Employment Outlook Report. The sector’s Net Employment Change (NEC) has moved into positive territory at +1.2% in HY2, up from -0.9% in HY1, signalling cautious optimism after a period of slowdown.The rebound is being driven by rising digital advertising spends, the rapid growth of creator-led business models, and increasing momentum in live commerce. As monetisation strategies evolve, hiring demand is expanding for roles such as performance marketers, ad-operations teams, audience attribution specialists, and GenAI-assisted production professionals, reflecting a clear shift toward data-led and revenue-focused capabilities.However, the report also highlights a phase of transition for legacy segments of the industry. Nearly 29% of organisations surveyed anticipate workforce reductions, primarily in print media, linear TV back-office operations, and redundant promotional functions. These roles are increasingly being consolidated into shared service hubs as consumption patterns and platform economics change.The findings underscore a broader transformation in the M&E talent landscape—from reach-led models to value-driven monetisation strategies. Digital-first growth areas such as short-form content, streaming innovation, and the creator economy are fuelling demand for rights managers, performance marketers, and attribution experts, while traditional broadcast-centric roles see slower growth.In terms of hiring priorities, Sales and Marketing emerge as the most in-demand function, with 47% of employers expressing intent to hire, followed by Finance (30%) and Blue Collar roles (23%). As creator-led models and live commerce accelerate, the future will belong to talent that blends creativity with data, adaptability, and digital fluency.” The insights are based on a survey of 1,251 employers across 23 industries and 20 cities, conducted between June and August 2025, highlighting how India’s media and entertainment sector is recalibrating its workforce to align with digital growth and measurable business outcomes.
