MUMBAI: As the advertising and marketing industry prepares to step into 2026, 2025 is being widely seen as a year of reckoning, one that forces brands, agencies, and creators to pause, recalibrate, and rethink how communication truly works in an attention-saturated world.According to Siddharth Jalan, founder of boutique marketing lab SquidJC, the most significant shift of the year wasn’t driven by a new platform, tool, or format, but by a fundamental change in audience behaviour and selective content consumption. “2025 was the year audiences stopped tolerating noise,” says Jalan . “People didn’t stop consuming content, but instead became extremely selective about what deserves their time. Brands that kept shouting, blended into the background. Brands that spoke with clarity, context, and intent stood out.” From Volume to Value The past year saw an explosion of content fuelled by AI tools, short-form video, and always-on publishing. While output increased, engagement became harder to earn. Public-facing digital behaviour studies released in 2025 consistently pointed to a rise in selective consumption, with users actively avoiding repetitive or low-value content in favour of fewer, more trusted voices.This shift, Jalan notes, pushed brands away from volume-led strategies and toward more intentional storytelling. “Posting more stopped being the answer, ” he explains. “Saying something meaningful and saying it consistently became the only way forward.” Creativity and Performance Finally Found Common Ground Another defining change in 2025 was the gradual collapse of the long-standing divide between creativity and performance marketing. Instead of operating in silos, the two disciplines increasingly converged around shared outcomes. “Performance stopped being about hacks, and creativity stopped being about cleverness for its own sake. Systems Over Campaigns Structurally, one of the most important changes Jalan observed was a move away from campaign-first thinking. Instead of relying on short bursts of visibility, brands began investing in communication systems core narratives and content frameworks designed to work across platforms and over time. “Consistency became more valuable than virality. Recall mattered more than reach,” he notes. As automation and AI continued to reshape workflows, industry-wide conversations increasingly focused on building systems that allow creativity to scale without losing coherence. The most immediate challenge is pressure on timelines, pricing, and the perceived value of thinking. The independent specialist agency recently unveiled a new AI-generated campaign for Lifestyle’s exclusive women’s fashion label, Ginger. How is AI being integrated into the agency? At Plus One Design, we currently use AI as a creative collaborator.For the Ginger campaign, AI helped us rapidly explore visual worlds, moods, and stylistic directions - unlocking possibilities that traditional production timelines wouldn’t allow. It expanded the canvas and removed many logistical constraints.That said, the idea, narrative, and fashion sensibility remained entirely human. AI amplifies creativity, but humans decide what matters and that distinction is fundamental to how we work.Looking ahead to 2026, we plan to integrate AI deeper into our workflows to streamline internal processes and accelerate client brief–feedback cycles. As an independent studio, our agility allows us to adopt these tools faster and more efficiently. Q. As a result of AI was the campaign executed much faster than normal? Yes, AI significantly accelerated the process.Exploration and iteration that earlier took weeks could now happen in days. But speed was never the objective. The real benefit was clarity. Design that does not serve a business objective is simply decoration. In 2026, we will spend even more time upfront understanding a client’s ambition, challenges, and long-term vision.The quality of creative output is directly linked to the quality of strategic clarity at the beginning. Mumbai: Businessman and Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani has withdrawn his defamation suit against investigative portal Cobrapost, The Economic Times, and several other media entities, over reports alleging financial fraud of more than ₹41,000 crore by companies linked to him.The withdrawal was permitted with liberty to file a fresh suit on the same cause of action.An order dated December 10, 2025, passed by Senior Civil Judge Vivek Beniwal of the Karkardooma Courts, records that Ambani’s counsel informed the court that he had received instructions from the plaintiff to withdraw the matter. Accepting the submission, the court disposed of the suit as withdrawn and cancelled the next date of hearing, which had earlier been fixed for January 15, 2026. The file was directed to be consigned to the record room. “Ld. Counsel for the plaintiff submits that he has received instructions from the plaintiff to withdraw the present matter with liberty to file a fresh suit on the same cause of action… In view of the same, present suit stands disposed of being withdrawn,” the court noted.The development comes weeks after the court had declined to grant Ambani any interim relief against the media organisations. On November 17, 2025, while issuing summons in the main defamation suit, the court refused to pass an ex parte ad interim injunction restraining the defendants from publishing or circulating the allegedly defamatory material.Ambani had sought immediate removal of the reports without hearing the defendants. Rejecting the plea, the court held that such relief could not be granted without affording the media outlets an opportunity to be heard. The judge cautioned against imposing pre-publication or post-publication restraints in the absence of a prima facie finding that the material was false or malicious. “Without hearing the defendants, it would not be proper to conclude that the statements or publications in question are unverified, inaccurate, malicious or irresponsible,” the court observed.The court further held that directing the takedown of content at that stage would be premature and could infringe upon constitutionally protected free speech.“Such a course of action risks transgressing the guarantee under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India and would constitute an unwarranted intrusion into the fundamental freedom of speech and expression,” the order said.During the November 17 hearing, the court had also indicated that Ambani did not have a sufficiently strong case at that stage to justify interim relief. Following this observation, senior advocate Vijay Aggarwal, appearing for Ambani, chose not to press the injunction application. The court thereafter proceeded to issue summons in the suit.Earlier, on November 13, 2025, the court had heard detailed submissions on Ambani’s plea for an ex parte ad interim injunction and had reserved orders, directing that the matter be listed for consideration on November 17.The defendants named in the suit included Cobrapost.com, Live Media and Publishers Pvt. Bengaluru Court fines Reporter TV, calls defamation suit an abuse of process; orders restoration of taken-down reports

Mumbai: A Bengaluru City civil court has imposed costs of ₹10,000 on Reporter TV and dismissed its defamation suit against several media organisations, holding that the channel misused an interim court order and later withdrew the case without providing any explanation.In an order dated December 18, the Bengaluru City Civil and Sessions Court also directed Reporter TV to restore all articles, videos and URLs that were taken down following an ex parte ad-interim injunction granted on October 25, 2025. The court ordered that the content be made publicly accessible within one week, clarifying that no mandatory injunction for permanent deletion had ever been issued. Suit Withdrawn After Interim Relief Was Stayed Reporter TV had filed the civil suit seeking a permanent injunction against what it described as defamatory reporting by multiple media outlets and digital platforms, including The News Minute. Among the reports challenged were stories related to the Muttil illegal tree-felling case in Kerala, in which the channel’s directors—the Augustine brothers—are accused and face ongoing criminal proceedings.However, the interim injunction granted by the trial court was stayed by the Karnataka High Court on December 3. Soon after the defendants appeared before the trial court and challenged the injunction, Reporter TV moved a memo seeking to withdraw the suit, without assigning any reasons.The trial judge observed that this sequence reflected a lack of bona fides on the part of the plaintiff. Withdrawing the case after securing interim relief—and following the High Court’s stay—amounted to an abuse of the judicial process, the court said, adding that such conduct caused hardship to defendants, affected public access to information, and wasted judicial time. Allegations of Misuse of Court Order As reported by media outlets, several defendants argued before the court that Reporter TV had obtained the interim order by suppressing material facts and then misused it to pressure news organisations into taking down content. They pointed out that legal notices were subsequently issued claiming the court had ordered permanent deletion of reports and videos, even though no such direction had been passed.The court examined one such notice and found it misleading, noting that it incorrectly asserted that the court had directed permanent removal of content, despite the absence of any mandatory injunction.Counsel for Reporter TV told the court that he was unaware of his clients’ conduct at the time of filing the suit and submitted that the decision to withdraw the case was taken after the interim order was stayed by the High Court. Reference to Supreme Court Guidance While allowing the withdrawal of the suit, the court imposed costs and dismissed the matter as “not pressed.” It also referred to a 2025 Supreme Court ruling in Bloomberg Television Production Services India Pvt Ltd v Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, which cautioned courts against granting interim injunctions in defamation cases that could be weaponised to silence media reporting and public participation through prolonged litigation.Importantly, the court clarified that it was not expressing any view on the merits of the defamation allegations themselves. Doctor Vikatan: பிரசவ தேதியைத் தாண்டியும் குழந்தை பிறக்காவிட்டால் காத்திருக்கலாமா?

Doctor Vikatan: கர்ப்பிணிகளுக்கு மருத்துவர்கள் பிரசவ தேதியைக் குறித்துக்கொடுக்கிறார்கள். சில பெண்களுக்கு அந்தத் தேதியில் பிரசவம் நடப்பதில்லை. அதைத் தாண்டிப் போவதும் நடக்கிறது. மருத்துவர்கள் குறித்துக்கொடுத்த  தேதியில் பிரசவம் நடக்கவில்லை என்றால் அதற்காகக் காத்திருப்பதில் என்ன பிரச்னை...  அப்படி எத்தனை நாள்கள் காத்திருக்கலாம்?  பதில் சொல்கிறார் கோவை, கிணத்துக்கடவைச் சேர்ந்த மகளிர் நலம் மற்றும் மகப்பேறு மருத்துவர் ஸ்ரீதேவி   மகப்பேறு மருத்துவர் ஸ்ரீதேவி பிரசவ தேதியைத் துல்லியமாகக் கணிக்க வேண்டுமென்றால் கர்ப்பம் உறுதியான காலகட்டமும் சரியாக கணிக்கப்பட வேண்டும். மாதவிலக்கு சுழற்சி முறையாக இருக்கும் பட்சத்தில், கடைசி மாதவிலக்கான நாளின் அடிப்படையில் பிரசவ தேதியைக் கணக்கிடலாம்.   ஒருவேளை முறைதவறிய மாதவிலக்கு சுழற்சி கொண்டவர்கள் என்றால், முதல் 3 மாத கர்ப்பதில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட ஸ்கேன் பரிசோதனையின் அடிப்படையில் பிரசவ தேதியை கணிக்கலாம்.  8 முதல் 12 வாரங்களில் செய்யப்படும் ஸ்கேனை 'டேட்டிங் ஸ்கேன்' (Dating scan) என்று சொல்வோம். 37 வாரங்கள் முடிவடைந்த நிலையில் அதை நிறைமாத கர்ப்பம் என்று சொல்வோம். கர்ப்பிணிகள் பொதுவாக 37 முதல் 40 வாரங்களில் குழந்தை பெற்றாக வேண்டும். பெரும்பாலான கர்ப்பிணிகளுக்கு 37 முதல் 40 வாரங்களில் பிரசவம் நிகழ்ந்துவிடும். அவர்களில் 5 சதவிகிதம் பேருக்கு இப்படி பிரசவ தேதியைத் தாண்டியும் பிரசவம் ஆகாமலிருக்கலாம். 40 வாரங்களைக் கடந்துவிட்ட நிலையில் குழந்தைக்கும் தாய்க்கும் சில சிக்கல்கள் ஏறட்படலாம். குழந்தை தொடர்ந்து பெரிதாக வளர்ந்துகொண்டே போகும். குழந்தைக்கு ஊட்டச்சத்துக் குறைபாடு ஏற்படலாம். உள்ளாட்சிச் சபைகளின் அலங்கோல அரசியல்! பனங்காட்டான்

அந்தந்தப் பிரதேச மக்களின் அன்றாட அடிப்படைத் தேவைகளை நிறைவேற்றவென நிறுவப்பட்ட உள்ளா ட்சிச் சபைகள் இன்று அரசியல் கட்சிகளின் கிளைகளாக மாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளன. இதனால் கொப்புப் பாய்ச்சல்களும் கிளை தாவல்களும் தாராளமாக இடம்பெறுகின்றன. சில கட்சிகளின் தலைமைகள் கொள்கை துறந்து, சேராத இடம் சேர்ந்து தங்கள் முகத்தில் தாமே கரி பூசுகின்றன. கடந்த வருடம் மே மாதம் இலங்கையில் இடம்பெற்ற உள்ளாட்சித் தேர்தல்களின் நிகழ்கால குழப்பங்கள் பற்றி எழுத முனைந்த வேளையில், முந்தி வந்த காதை பிந்தி வந்த கொம்பு மறைத்த கதைபோல விடயம் திசை திரும்ப நேர்ந்துள்ளது. இத்திருப்பத்தின் காரணமாக இரண்டு விடயங்களை முதலில் பார்த்துவிட்டு பின்னர் இவ்வாரத்தானதுக்கு வரலாம். கடந்த இரண்டு வருடங்களாக காங்கேசன்துறையிலுள்ள தையிட்டி திஸ்ஸ விகாரை தொடர்பான செயற்பாடுகள் அது அமைந்துள்ள காணிகளை பறிகொடுத்தவர்களால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இதற்கு முன்னுரிமை கொடுத்து அக்காணிகளுக்கு முன்னால் பௌர்ணமி தினங்களில் (பௌத்தர்கள் இதனை போயா தினம் என்பர்) உரிமைப் போராட்டம் நடத்த ஆரம்பித்தவர்கள் தமிழ்த் தேசிய மக்கள் முன்னணியினர். இவ்வாறான ஒரு போராட்டம் நடைபெறுவதை தெரியாததுபோல் பாசாங்கு பண்ணிக் கொண்டு தமிழ் மக்களின் தலைமைக் கட்சி இருந்து வருகிறது. ஆனால், இதன் தலைவராக தெரிவான நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சிவஞானம் சிறீதரன் மட்டும் இதில் பங்குபற்றி வந்தார். இதற்காக இவர்மீது கட்சி எப்போது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமோ தெரியாது. அமைதிப் போராட்டம் நடத்தியவர்கள் மீது காவல்துறையினர் ஒரு வாரத்துக்கு முன்னர் தமக்கேயுரித்தான தர்பார் நடத்தினர். இப்போது தாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் மீது நீதிமன்றத்தில் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. யாழ்ப்பாண மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள நயினாதீவு விகாராதிபதியும், யாழ்ப்பாண நாகவிகாரை விகாராதிபதியும் திடுதிப்பென களத்தில் குதித்துள்ளனர். திஸ்ஸ விகாரை அமைந்திருக்கும் காணி பொதுமக்களுக்கு சொந்தமானது என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளதோடு இதனை ஜனாதிபதிக்கும் அரசாங்கத்துக்கும் தாங்கள் எடுத்துக் கூறியுள்ளதாகவும் அறிவித்துள்ளனர். இரண்டு விகாராதிபதிகளும் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் நீண்டகாலமாக வாழ்ந்து வருபவர்கள். இவர்களின் கூற்றுகள் சமூகத்தின் ஒருபகுதியினரால் வரவேற்கப்பட்டதாயினும் வேறு சிலரின் சந்தேகத்துக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளது. இதற்குப் பல காரணங்கள் வெளிப்படையாக சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளன. தையிட்டி திஸ்ஸ விகாராதிபதி ஜின்தோட்டை நந்தாராம தேரர் வடமாகாணத்துக்கான பிரதான விகாராதிபதியாக அண்மையில் நியமிக்கப்பட்டார். தாங்கள் இருவரும் பதவி இறக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டது போன்ற தாக்கத்தினாலேயே இவர்கள் காணி விடயங்களில் மக்கள் பக்கம் குரல் கொடுத்திருக்கலாமென ஒரு வாதம் உண்டு. எதுவாயினும் நீதியான தீர்வு இறுதியில் கிடைக்குமா என்பதை பொறுத்திருந்து பார்க்க வேண்டும். முன்னாள் அமைச்சரும் ஈ.பி.டி.பியின் தலைவருமான டக்ளஸ் தேவானந்தாவின் கைது பரபரப்பாக பேசப்படும் செய்தி. இவரது முப்பதாண்டு கால அரசியல் வாழ்வு எப்போதும் பரபரப்பாகவே இருந்தது. இவர் ஒரு முன்னாள் போராளி என்பதும் இதற்குக் காரணம். ஆனால், 2000ம் ஆண்டு சந்திரிகா அரசிலிருந்து இறுதியாக 2004ல் கோதபாய - ரணில் ஆட்சிவரை அமைச்சராக இருந்தவர் இவர். போர்க்காலத்தில் இவருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட 19 சுடுகலன்கள் இதுவரை அரசிடம் மீளளிக்கப்படவில்லை என்பது தொடர்பாக இவரால் சரியான விபரங்கள் தெரிவிக்கப்படவில்லை என குற்றவியல் விசாரணை பொலிசார் நீதிமன்றத்தில் தெரிவித்ததையடுத்து விளக்கமறியலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். வழமையாக அரசியல்வாதிகளின் விளக்கமறியல் என்பது சிறைச்சாலையிலுள்ள மருத்துவமனையாகவே அமையும். இறுதியாக, ரணில் விக்கிரமசிங்கவும் விளக்கமறியலை மருத்துவமனையிலேயே கழித்தார். இ;ப்போது டக்ளஸ் தேவானந்தாவும் அப்படித்தான். பார்க்கப்போனால் அரசியல்வாதிகள் எல்லோருமே நோயாளிகள்போலத் தெரிகிறது. இது ஒருபுறமிருக்க, பிள்ளையான், டக்ளஸ் பாதையில் அடுத்தது அவரா இவரா என்று வேறு சில தமிழ் அரசியல்காரர்களின் பெயர்களை ஊடகங்கள் எழுத ஆரம்பித்துள்ளன. இந்த விடயத்திலும் என்ன நடைபெறுமென்பதை அறிய பொறுத்திருந்துதான் பார்க்க வேண்டும். இந்த வாரத்துக்கு எழுத வந்த விடயம், உள்ளாட்சிச் சபைகளின் இயங்குதளம் அல்லது அவைகளை இயக்கும் பின்னணி பற்றியது. கிராமசபைகள், பட்டினசபைகள், நகரசபைகள், மாநகரசபைகள் என்பவை ஒரு காலத்தில் உள்ளாட்சிச் சபைகளாக இருந்தன. இவைகளின் பிரதான பணியாக அந்தந்த பகுதி வீதிகள் பராமரிப்பு, குளங்கள் குட்டைகள்;
